Italy on Wednesday promised to support Somalia police by providing necessary equipments and trainings to the National Police Force.
Italian interior minister Annamaria Cancellieri made the announcement in Rome while meeting the visiting Somali Prime Minister Abdiweli Mohamed Ali.
During their meeting, the two leaders discussed lengthily Somalia’s security issues as well as the need to have their Interior Ministries team up for common good.
Cancellieri praised the Somali government for the tremendous and outstanding progress on security and stabilisation of the chaotic country.
She added that the international community is now keenly interested in Somalia issues.
Italy agreed to support the Somali government on the formation of government administrations of areas recently wrested control from Al-Shabaab, the fight against piracy off the coast of Somalia, revival of Somali coastguards and the materialisation of the stabilisation Plan.
The premier has been on an official visit to Italy where he was honoured with an official invitation by his Italian counterpart.
